Ayurveda workshop

May 29, 2024, 03:30 PM

MIT Lincoln Lab

Ayurveda, the ancient system of medicine originating from the Indian subcontinent, is not
just a medical practice but a profound heritage and tradition deeply intertwined with the
cultural fabric of India. Rooted in the Vedic scriptures, Ayurveda translates to "the science of
life" and embodies a holistic approach to health and well-being. Ayurveda's influence extends
far beyond the realm of medicine, permeating into diverse aspects of Indian culture. From
cuisine and yoga to spiritual practices and daily routines, Ayurveda infuses every aspect of
life with a profound sense of mindfulness and balance. This workshop will introduce key
concepts in Ayurveda and its relevance today, especially in the context of a complete healthcare
system model for the world to consider and integrate.

Kiki Brien, Grave's disease

"My experience with Doctor Shah has been wonderful from the start. From the first time I called her, desperate to find some relief from ongoing symptoms related to Graves Disease and hormonal imbalance. Dr Shah met my call with a warm voice and offered that she might be able to help. After our first “official” phone consultation, she mailed me an herbal protocol of teas and herbs to add to my new diet (all easy to take and the modified diet, easy to follow) Within a few weeks on the protocol, I ... read more

Carolyn N, MA

A brief history of your illness(es) along with duration and all you had tried before seeing Shah:

For many years, I have gone to my doctors with a variety of symptoms, asking “Why am I always tired?”, “Why does it take a small cut so long to heal?”, “Why is my hair falling out?”

They would order bloodwork but would dismiss me because I wasn’t sick enough for anything to be outside the normal ranges. I was simply unwell. I tried to treat mysel... read more

Happy client, MA

"I would like to say that Dr. Shah gave me my life back. For the first time, I can envision leading a healthy, happy and successful life. In many ways, Dr. Shah has been a wise mentor and guide to me. It was not just about treating my health but also guiding me on how to make sustainable changes in all aspects of my life to lead a better quality of life. Her approach is to make you self-sufficient, and set you up for long-term success."

Shikha Ashutosh Sinha (Fahaheel, Kuwait) - Autoimmune disease

I have been with Dr. Shah for the longest time and it has worked perfectly for both my mental and physical health.

She does not just prescribe the herbs but also takes the effort to explain the importance behind it along with some interesting trivia about the Ayurvedic way of living. Her tips were incorporated into my routine, seamlessly, and that is how I met the best version of my health.

I lost all the weight, became fitter, my skin... read more

Sonal Parikh (MA, USA) - Rheumatoid Arthritis

My diagnosis came as surprise as I am young (in my 30s) and no one in my family has history of RA. Dr. Shah told me I most likely have RA even BEFORE I went to my Primary care doctor. My PCP and then the Rheumatologist confirmed the diagnosis eventually, with a blood test. I was having some on and off, often debilitating wrist pain for one month.  Initially I thought it might be sprain or strain because it was only in one wrist and then in second, but one night I woke up with excruciating sho... read more

Tiffany Vaughn (MA, USA) - IBS and Menopausal syndrome

'Upon first meeting Dr. Shah, I was immediately put at ease, not an easy task given the current restrictions with Covid, mask wearing, face shield. She was very attentive, thorough, and organized. After taking my pulse, looking at my tongue, and reading through the answers on my dosha questionnaire, she told me which dosha(s) were predominant in me, what was out of balance and how Ayurveda explains the doshas. She was happy to read my “life story”, and in fact seemed to appreciate the detai... read more

Daughter of Sonal Parikh (MA, USA) - GI issues, Eczema

Dr. Shah is amazing, in just 15 days she solved my daughter's eating problem.  Before meeting Dr. Shah, she would just not open her mouth to eat anything, even if it was her favorite food.  She would eat one or two bites and that too with lot of struggle.  Her eczema was getting worse too, but with Dr. Shah’s herbs and other recommendations, she is a self-feeding baby now and eczema is also a lot be... read more

Happy Client (MA, USA) - ADHD, Anxiety

Dr. Shah was great. She has a very personable demeanor. Even online she could tell where I could benefit. She has a very calming voice and always listens and then promptly follows up. She followed up promptly with email and suggestions. I don’t take my medication as often. I am now down to taking it 4 times a week instead of 7. The diet has made a big difference in my GI system. I can feel the difference when I am away and have to eat outside. I feel calmer by working on myself more and tak... read more

Happy client

Ayurveda with Dr. Shah about a month ago, and we followed her diet plan completely, and I started taking the Ayurveda herbs that she prescribed, along with my allopathy medications, and I have never realized what a tremendous, debilitating impact that migraines and tension headaches truly had on my health and mental wellbeing. For the first time in a year and a half, I have had days where my head doesn’t feel clouded and overwhelmed, and that is amazing progress in such a short time!

Son of Pooja Thawani (Jakarta, Indonesia), Eczema

Dr. Shah is my teacher at the Boston Ayurveda School, and I was interested to have a consult with her for my son to address the root of the problem and not just take actions to mask off the symptoms when he had a flare up.

She was very careful in taking his history and showed genuine care. She recommended a protocol that showed significant improvements in his skin, and he has had NO ECZEMA FLARE UPs in the past 4 months.

Courtney Bailey, TN, Asthma

Asthma - I had my first asthma attack at around four years old. Growing up, I would do nightly breathing treatments on a breathing machine and would use an inhaler as needed (although the inhaler made symptoms come more frequently and eventually stopped working). I grew out of asthma attacks once I got older, but I have experienced chronic minor wheezing since.

Anxiety - I have experienced anxiety my entire life, stemming from childhood, generational, and soci... read more
